Just had a look at Right Move in Hazel Grove Nik and for a 2 bed room house, there is precious little choice. 4 terraced houses around £210,000 and that is the cheapest, unless you look at apartments.
You're wasting your breath talking to someone who probably bought his house years ago for a fraction of that price, on 2.5 x salary or less.
What choice do people have? You need somewhere to live, so you need to either buy or rent.
A 22 - 29 year old would have to borrow x 8.53 times their salary to buy one of those houses in Hazel Grove. How????
There needs to be significant stock of social housing and council housing built to replace the stocks that the government sold off.
Young people are being absolutely shafted in this country and it's a shame that older people who've had it easy with their x 2.5 salary mortgages cannot under stand this.
