I agree with what is I think the general view here, that it is not a bad idea to limit titles to those relatively close in descent to a monarch (whether that is one generation, two, or three), but that removing titles (or a place in the line of succession, which sometimes happens though is not the case here) from living people, especially those who are not young children, for essentially bureaucratic issues seems punitive and cruel.

On a human level, it is just very sad to think what this must do to the relationship of the Queen and her grandchildren, as well as resentments which might naturally arise between cousins, etc. I suppose the Queen is in a sense recreating the family strife she already experienced when the succession laws were changed to put her on the throne ahead of her uncle and cousins.
