Re: Changes in titles for Prince Joachim's children
My speculation is that Prince Joachim knew about it but hadn't got around to having a serious conversation with his adult sons. When Queen Margrethe was asked today about her grandsons' reaction to the news, she only said that she had not heard or read about it. She did not indicate that she had spoken to them beforehand, only that it had been something she had been considering for a long time. Previous Message I'd be very surprised if her sons were not informed. One thing I wonder about is who exactly makes these decisions. Surely in a constitutional monarchy the elected officials are very much involved in a decision like this, as was certainly the case when Sweden ended male primogeniture. Previous Message Previous Message According to the Danish broadsheet Politiken, in an interview with Countess Alexandra, her sons were not informed and it has come as a shock. If that is true, it seems like an amazingly ham-handed thing to do. Hopefully there is more to the story!
