Blabbing to the press about how they feel "ostracized", how they "are shocked" and "saddened" by the decision does make them come off as entitled and self-absorbed brats who only care about titles.
This decision has been in the making and Prince Joachim knew of the final decision 5 days ago. He could have easily called an emergency family meeting to discuss it with the family. Though let's be honest- I don't Henrik and Athena are bothered by it as much as the other adults are.
What's disappointing is that even if they were not happy with the decision they need not tell that to the press to paint QMII and her actions in a negative light.
Consider the fine example of Princess Madeleine who responded with the utmost professionalism when her children were removed from the royal house and had their "HRH" removed. She said:
Earlier today, the court announced that Leonore, Nicolas and Adrienne will no longer belong to the royal house. This change has been planned for a long time. Chris and I think it’s good that our children are now getting a greater opportunity to shape their own lives as private individuals in the future
Joachim and/or Alexandra could've issued a similar statement and leave it at that.

Alisa. There is no evidence they're spoilt brats. I guess if you are raised as a Prince, surrounded by relatives and courtiers who respect the titles of the institution of monarchy but then have the title removed, it may seem a negative thing to do. I agree that in future the numbers of Princes and Princesses should be limited -This is easily done by saying in future only children of the monarch or Crown Prince will be given a royal title at birth. Taking a title away is something different, and has obviously caused hurt. This seems a shame in a family that previously seemed very close. Previous Message
...is how Joachim and his family come off complaining.
It's a very wise decisions as 10-20 years from now there could well be nearly a dozen Prince/Princesses of Denmark at hand. Furthermore as Nikolai has shown they could very be using their titles for financial gain and other ventures.
It's sad that Joachim and Alexandra feel that their children's identity is tied up with not who they are (grandchildren of the sovereign) but the titles Prince/Princess of Denmark. They could really learn a lesson or 2 from Princess Anne and her children.
Also Alexandra herself went from Princess to Countess and she hasn't faired badly.
