Appointed as heir? In Denmark they knew the king would have no offspring that could succeed and Christian's mother-in-law and brother-in-law both renounced their rights but that would still not have made Christian but his wife Louise the next in line of succession. According to the Dutch constitution Parliament has to appoint an heir if there is nobody available under the constitutional rules of succession. Previous Message How would his case count? I know that he didn't automatically succeed his predecessor on the Danish throne (King Frederik VII) by inheritance.
