For the monarchy to survive they have to represent all sections of the modern UK. People who think it is ok to speak to black people like that canít be anywhere near the Royal Court, never mind at its centre . It makes me cringe that she was there supporting the Queen Consort and welcomed a guest in this way. Iím sure Lady Susan will be appalled that she has embarrassed the new King like this after years of service and a new role. But she didnít say one silly thing and then apologise she kept on and on at the poor woman . She should be embarrassed. William must be fuming as itís all over the UK and US media when itís meant to be focusing on his Earthshot Prize.
I think it is now imperative for the new King and Queen to divest themselves of these antiquated and out of date retainers and start to surround themselves with people from more varied backgrounds including people of colour who represent modern Britain instead of the usual coterie of titled folk from similar backgrounds to themselves. The late Queen at least made a start in this direction by employing working-class girl Angela Kelly as her wardrobe adviser. If this now comes to pass (as it should) Lady Susan's unfortunate outburst will at least have some positive outcome. More Angelas and less Lady Susans?
