Re: The reported conversation
For the monarchy to survive they have to represent all sections of the modern UK. People who think it is ok to speak to black people like that can’t be anywhere near the Royal Court, never mind at its centre . It makes me cringe that she was there supporting the Queen Consort and welcomed a guest in this way. I’m sure Lady Susan will be appalled that she has embarrassed the new King like this after years of service and a new role. But she didn’t say one silly thing and then apologise she kept on and on at the poor woman . She should be embarrassed. William must be fuming as it’s all over the UK and US media when it’s meant to be focusing on his Earthshot Prize. Previous Message Hear, hear! Times are changing. Fast. Previous Message As awful as the insensitive interchange was, I had to chuckle, as one could easily swap Lady Susan's name with that of the late Prince Philip when reading that conversation as relayed in the BBC story. The King is wise to keep on the modernization (and hopefully zero tolerance) track. Hopefully with the vanishing of the old guard, the monarchy can lead by finally breaking free of that colonial-era tone-deaf mindset that was somehow okay in the past.
