I remember that day quite well as I had duty and was supposed to have thanksgiving dinner with my (now wife of 35 years) Isabelle and had to call her and tell her we had to get underway. "At the time I dont think she believed me." ( Thank the good lord it was on TV that night only they got it mixed up calling us a minesweeper.)
Yes and I remember being the Chief Qm having my QMs taking the ship out in civilain clothes. Boy what an adventure and memory that was. Huh?
It was good to get back and see those smiling on the pier only to find out they had duty when we got back.
