I was reading these boards out of curiosity when I saw this subject. I remeber this day clearly. We were sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner, I was 7. My father got a call and was gone. I never understood why such a large naval vessel was needed to rescue someone so far away. My father was the weapons officer, Gene Hewlett, who passed on Easter 2001.
