We were invited for a barbique this past weekend and had quite an interesting chat with them with reference to past events.
The daughter (approx 21 yoa) condemns the recent election as a last gasp of the old farts trying to hold on to a Great Britain that no longer exists and they should all wake up to the reality that is the modern world.
Her parents were somewhat less volatile (they had voted to leave the EU) but concialiatory to her views, telling us that her generation's time will come soon enough when they are gone, and as such she will have to "grin and bear it".
The entire family was unanimous in their condemnation of the new Prime Minister, stating that she thinks she is the new Mrs Thatcher.
I did ask whether any of the recently naturalized immigrants had voted and for which way, but they did not seem to know.
I would be curious to hear as to how the West Indians, Pakistanis and Indians that immigrated into England post WWII (1950's and 60's)voted.
The daughter stated that most of them have assimilated into the English culture, and to meet a Pakistani with a Scouse or Yorkshire accent is quite the norm.
Are intermarriages the norm these days, or frowned upon as they are here in the USA?
All right, back to my allotment and wellies.
Tarra lads
