Re: UK Politics"
I voted "out" and was proud to do so. We originally joined the EEC not a federal Europe united in all aspects of life. I'm willing to accept the turmoil for the next few year but the best result of the out vote is the turmoil it's causing in the EU now. Europe did not expect it and did not make any preparation should it happen. Europe wants the UK to notify their intention to leave at the earliest opportunity but this won't happen. So, at the moment, we have the EU over a barrel. Yes, the British stock market took an immediate dive but returned fairly quickly to a level not far off normal. Eu on the other hand have Italian stocks down 8%, Germany down 5% France down 6% as are the rest of the EU with no signs of recovery because the world is unsure what will happen next in the EU and they are not likely to get an answer from the UK for several months. The EU is also looking at the upcoming French general elections. With lots of unrest in France, especially about the EU, it looks as if Madame La Penn (communist) could well win and she has already said that if she wins, the first thing she will do is give the French people a vote on the EU. (As they only have to put one X in one box the French should be able to achieve this without too many lessons) All in all I think the end of the EU is not many years away.
