The present Prime Minister( David Cameron ) thought it would be a good idea to have a referendum on British membership - his logic was that a "YES" vote would unite his party and that the British public would accept the EU as the the future for Britain and everyone would live happily ever after.
Unfortunately for our leaders, we voted "NO" which rather spoiled the plan - The Scots who get a high proportion of their income from the EU, and a large grant from the British goverment aren't happy with this. They only see "doom & gloom" ahead and want to leave the UK and stay with the EU. Unfortunately, for them, this can't happen at present - the reasons why it can't happen are too many and complicated for this forum.
Someone a very long time ago said: "we live in interesting times" and in this case we truly do.
