The media, and even social media platforms, are filling the gap in information the government themselves have created. They haven't been clear with any of us, the daily briefings are an absolute joke, and TBH if this is the best they can do when they try they are proven to be utterly incapable of performing the roles they are assigned to. Either way this does not make them look good, so I have to wonder why you are defending them.
As for the "experts" we've never been told who they actually are so cannot verify just what they are expert in, nor what their conclusions are. Although one of them it turns out is a "data scientist" with links to Cambridge Analytica whose company has been underhandedly awarded the contract to develop the UK's data tracking app without it going to tender (an app which given that single fact I will NOT be installing under any circumstances).
