I agree Camilla would have looked much better in the Queen Mother's crown.
The St Edward's Crown did look a bit dull to me too.
Apart from changes in earlier reigns of course, and in my view, the shape of the Imperial State Crown (ISC) appears to vary according to the angle of the photography. In the past I have wondered if QEII had the arch shapes changed ever so slightly early in her reign to be less flat looking.
But it does seem that there was no change made for the King.
According to my sources, when the ISC was changed for QEII, certain amounts of the arches were removed so that the arches could be lower without sticking out too far at the sides. I hope the "spare parts" were not mislaid!! lol
In the matter of Queen Mary's Crown those finely shaped individual arches are not suited to change in length, again in my view.
Again in my view, the crown of QEQM would have been a more straightforward choice because it would not have required any changes to its structure , only replacement of jewels in the same three places to use the Cullinans III, IV and V. And probably a better shape and size alongside the King's.
