There are several important points in the article:
- Shorter service with fewer of the traditional Anglican aspects - they have to make the service more diverse, and the long ceremonial used in 1953 is probably not necessary. A more inclusive service for other religions was also to be expected.
- Fewer guests - they will not crowd 6000 people into Westminster Abbey, but limit the attendance to 2000. That is not surprising. With most lords no longer in Parliament, there really is not good reason to invite them all for the coronation - they were partly present in previous coronation to pay homage because they were in parliament. I suspect the guest list will be very much like the recent funeral - a combination of government officials, realms and Commonwealth leaders, foreign guests, courtiers and religious and civic leaders.
- dress code - the article speculates they will drop the ermine robes, but doesn't say they will drop uniforms, orders and tiaras. I personally hope they continue with this, as it makes the whole ceremony very much more grand. But to be fair, other than the royal family members and courtiers, not many attendees will own tiaras these days.
Well, if this story from the DM is to be believed then the coronation is going to be a huge disapppointment.
