I was also onboard in 68 when we went to DaNang. I think we went there to get rid of the helo that was all shot up from one rescue mission. We tried to unload it to a carrier, cant remember which one, but our superstructure was too tall so we had to go to DaNang to get it picked off by a large sky crane helo. I remember, being a Radioman, that we were SOPA when we entered the Harbor. I did not get to go ashore, but got a good look at DaNang. I think there is a picture of the thing being picked up in the 1968 Cruise Book. I only made one cruise, but I know we were there in DaNang is 68... Good Luck...
