I cannot recall any discussion in the Norwegian media of abdications, and no politician has raised the idea. This might be because the King is very well liked and respected (even among republicans), but probably also because he has himself never hinted at abdication.
I was not suggesting they should, i was just wondering if there was some discussion about the subject in the Norwegian media and or political community.
The fact that they have not does not mean they should not. Times change. Monarchies are no exception.
With the king in his mid 80's and having had some very serious health issues over the last few years is there any discussion in Norway about abdication or is it simply not a topic discussed?
The Scandinavian and the UK monarchs don't abdicate (Edward VIII being an exeption). If the Monarch is to ill to perform his/her duties, the heir/ess can step in.
