I admire the King's stamina but at the same time it does look uncomfortable. We laugh about the 90 year old senators in the US Congress and a wobbling President in the White House but we also have these very old monarchs as Heads of State. I find it difficult to watch to be honest.
With the king in his mid 80's and having had some very serious health issues over the last few years is there any discussion in Norway about abdication or is it simply not a topic discussed?
Crown Prince Haakon joined his mother Queen Sonja for the annual banquet hosting the Norwegian government and MPs tonight. King Harald is on sick leave:

Crown Prince Haakon had to step in for his father on short notice, and read the speech written by his father. The King´s speeches are usually quite funny for this event, and this time it was even more amusing as it had not been changed for his son who thus had to speak about himself and his mother in his father's words.
