My grandmother’s funeral is this week and all I can think about is what time I need to leave to make it to marching band rehearsal. This isn’t normal.

I want to have kids but I can’t because I feel I’d have to quit my job as a high school BD. This isn’t normal.

I spend more time at work than I do at home with my spouse. This isn’t normal.

My job has become my personality and I am living to work. This isn’t normal.

I am so tired of this. I love my job but it’s just a job. I feel if I cut back on rehearsals and events then the quality of the program, which isn’t great to begin with but is developing, will tank.

Open to advice.

Background: this is year 7 of teaching and year 7 at this school. 120 in the program. Just me and an assistant. I’ve looked at jobs outside education in my area but can’t find anything remotely close to the pay.
