That brings to mind the Catholic churches that were burned down last year in Canada in the wake of shocking discoveries of graves of hundreds of the First Nations children forcibly taken from their families by the government to be "educated" by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and others -- never to be heard from again.
No doubt there are many people seething with rage and frustration about the Church's mixed response to clerical abuse, but the desecration at St. Denis may just as well have been the work of a troubled and/or malevolent person who happened upon an opportunity. That is why I hope the police solve the crime quickly before some random gay or Muslim or immigrant person is singled out and "punished" as retaliation.
