I have always thought that "Oldcastle" sounds awkward and confected, unlike "Mountbatten". A better option would have been to have adopted "Oldenburg", itself, with the original spelling, pronouncing it as we pronounce "Edinburg", and even living the "en" silent - "Oldburg", to rhyme with Edinburg.
The problem we that Prince Charles now faces is that neither option represents agnatic descent.
