Yes, I goofed - should have been 1770's. Sorry about that. As far as the one "l" or double "l", I have seen it first one way and then the other all the way back to the Virginia Trammell's. The most of my family always used the two l's, but some did not, same thing with "m", some use 1 m, others use two. When Nicolas signed the Cumberland Compact, his signature looks to me like he used one m and one l. Who knows??? 71
