And yes Colston has been idolised for hundreds of years. He is all over Bristol. Understandable given what he did for the city but given the context of that philanthropy it’s best for everyone that we move on. Use those plinths to honour people who should be honoured.
Removing these statues doesn’t erase history, or hide it away. It says we recognise these monuments to slavers are wrong and should move on. As proven by the German example.
