My staff are carers, they get paid £9.50 per hour weekdays and £10 weekends.
Stockport social services will only pay the company running the staff. £14.25
Take in to account, training, uniform, ppe, mileage costs, pensions etc etc.
Believe me, we don't make money, only the private payers pay the bills not social provided clients.
That is a problem from the government downwards, that's what they pay, the main agencies in Stockport employ under 21 year olds on £6 odd an hour to make money, they have no life experience to deal with 80plus year old they don't last and the cycle continues.
When the pandamic started stepping Hill and Macc hospital were refusing over 70 yearpatients. We had a 101 year old that died because he was refused entry with the paramedics at both hospitals.
Regards care homes, we had a client discharged in to our care. The next day we found out the home had covid-19 and had in fact lost someone through it. We and the family never told, luckily we take using and wearing ppe seriously and could put measures in place. We complained, didn't get a response and advised CQC.
Community nurses were entering care homes without ppe, I made three complaints and a formal one to Stockport council, 6 weeks later I am still awaiting a response as to why they were being allowed. Again this was reported to CQC.
