    Not got a problem with people wanting to mark it and people who support it, but there’s so many people in this country who just drive you insane by hijacking stuff like this and turning it into something it isn’t meant for.

    Look at the hordes of people out in street parties yesterday, not giving a shit about the lockdown, sticking their bunting everywhere so they can whack it on Instagram and get a few likes - with half of them not even knowing what VE Day is, and just using it as an excuse to get outside during all this and get pissed.

    There’s a video doing the rounds of a load of people in a street doing a conga yesterday to mark VE Day. Regardless of the infuriating social distancing side of things, how on Earth is a conga a respectful or sensitive way to mark VE Day?!

    It’s exactly the same with the Clap for Carers. Like VE Day, the original intention is of a respectful way to mark something - and again, it’s hijacked week after week by morons dressing up as Elvis or Freddie Mercury and going singing in the street during the applause. It’s blatantly to make it about them, with the same kind of people blatantly not giving a shit about the actual carers, or about what VE Day is.
