I agree RH this is a good summary. The Imperial College London virus modelling was I think the source of the 250,000. We lost something thing like 450,000 during World War 2 ( includes Commonwealth ?)
Can amy government coutenance just allowing this? The Chief Medical Officer thinks 20,000 " would be a good result". I'm not a Boris fan but surely if we have a Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Medical Officer with expert teams, surely he has to follow their advice. He would be severely criticised if he just brushed it aside and did his own thing. The proverbial 'buying a dog and barking yourself' -- comes to mind.
As our son is back in Shanghai, we have news from the front line so to speak. Shanghai is starting to return to a cautious normal.
A final point would be that it is not just the deaths some of those that recover have permanent lung damage which of course adds to the overall seriousness.
