I have posted many times in the past about how the 16 Hour Country Music Documentary by Ken Burns was terrible.

We all agreed Jim Reeves was short shifted, among others.

Burns, a pseudo intellectual who pretends to be an expert on just about everything evidently relied heavily on Marty Stewart who fancies himself a Country Music Historian for content.

I posted some time back about a Country collection I found with Stewart providing the intro to each presentation, again with a slight to Jim in my view.

I just discovered a recent YouTube posting by Stewart "Country Legacy Stories".

He names the three greatest county singers in his opinion.

His opinion reflects why his favorites were represented so prominently in Burns documentary to the exclusion of many worthy others like Jim.

Burns did not have the where with all or intelligence, or interest, to challenge Stewarts recommendations.

Stewart's greatest list is #1 George Jones, #2 Merle Haggard, #3 Johnny Cash, great artists all, but not in the same class as Jim Reeves and many others.

Forgive me for venting on this but it really bugs me how Burns, with Stewart's input, produced such a mediocre history of country music, ultimately hurting the memory and legacy of truly great artists like Jim Reeves.

I firmly believe jealously of Jim's voice and talent plays a part in this.
