A little further down the road but only a short distance is a town beach on the Bay. This gets a lot of townspeople. In addition to a small beach, there is a kiddie spray park, boat launching site, a refreshment/drink and bar outdoor type beach restaurant which has live music and dancing every nite from 6 to 9, restrooms. The establishment has also changed hands and been remodeled. I happen to have liked the old set up better because this one has a fencing barrier from the beach where the old one didn't, so you have to walk around to one of the openings to get to wherever you want to. The majority of townspeople bring their own beach chairs and refreshments, sit on the beach and listen to the music which is usually pretty good. You can go into the place and dance if you're moved to but it discourages people from just sitting around and watching others. I used to go down by myself, look around for a familiar face and join them if there was seating available. This too is before renovation. When I bought this house years ago..I didn't realize just how convenient and what a lucky choice it would be. While I can no longer get around like I used to, everything anyone might need is within reach albeit not next door. The LIRR is within walking distance, two shopping centers and grocery chains are as well, a CVS and 711 and fast food chains right there too. There is also a movie in one of the shopping centers that has been closed for renovation for sometime. I don't know if it will ever open again but there's no for sale sign. Between the fact that the house is in its original state and not blown up and senior benefits, taxes are a pittance. I have a big fenced in back yard that looks like a park.
