Re: Living With The Virus. - All
I got up with Mike every two hours last night, we are taking turns medicating and caring for him, but I am doing most of it lately, taking the day hours and many nights. I was already overtired and what Stacey went through today was enough to put me over the edge. She has been in bad pain for several weeks now, and the pain meds were helping some but causing her other problems. Chemo began Friday and she is still connected to the pump (it comes out tomorrow mid-morning) and everything has kicked in to high gear, especially the nausea. They sent her home with some barf bags, but not enough. We could't find any more at any pharmacy nearby, so we are fashioning our own. She is terribly sick, and thank God she fell asleep for several hours, but she is up now vomiting, and whimpering no no no no. She can't keep anything down, not even water. She had a craving for watermelon, and we ran down and got one, but the minute she ate it, back it came. Food is out of the question, but we are warming up some clear Insure. One of the meds in the "cocktail" requires that you don't eat, drink, or even touch anything cold or your throat can close up. Thank Goodness for my oldest girl, she is doing the lion's share of Stacey's care and keeping up with her pill schedule, while I am taking care of Mike. It looks like it's going to be a long night. I knew having any procedure or this chemo on a Friday was not the greatest idea. It's the week-end. No one can be reached at Kaiser Pharmacy for advice, the emergency line has an hour and half wait. They offer to call you back. We left our number; they never called. We are relying on the good graces of CVS and Rite Aid for answers to questions of a general nature.
