guessing it would be over CH and TK wouldn’t “ be going into the office that day”… let’s see. On another note I can’t help but think back to TV shows , live events etc , ( I refer to the previous reign ) and the “ reporters” would more often then not explain in detail why the ( single) Royal Standard flies… now we have two flying at once , not a word from the media to this change .
Clarence House is next door to Buckingham Palace. If the King lives at Clarence House, but works at the Palace, one would imagine there to be some travel between the two residences, possibly several times during the day. Perhaps he pops over to CH for lunch, perhaps he needs to change into a uniform or a formal attire for an evening engagement. It seems quite inconvenient to change the flag whenever the King moves between the palaces, as long as he is in residence in London.
Thus I assume the new tradition is the royal standard fly over both Buckingham Palace and Clarence House while he is in residence in London, and is only lowered when he is in residence in one of the other palaces.
Thank you Karen. I had the sane thoughts but then thought … no way . I guess the new reign brings new ways of doing things !
It seems this a totally new thing. The King is in two places during the day. He and the Queen are in residence (living) at Clarence House and the King is working up at 'The Big House' during the day. The Royal Standard would continue fly over Clarence House, but also for the duration he is in Buckingham Palace. That's the only way I can explain why it would happen.
