Although Jerry Patrick Brown states that he knew he was writing the finale, I can imagine that he left the storyline more or less with an open end. Only this way an extra episode (or even season) could potentially be added. If I was the writer I would do it in the same way and choose for ‘the finish without a finish’.
Personally, I missed as a viewer - contrary to the above - a closure for some main characters, especially Anderson and Goldman. Also, I wondered why Goldman, Percell and Ruiz didn’t finish their tours at the same time in the last episode, because they started all as newbies at the same time in episode 1. Perhaps Jerry Patrick Brown didn’t want to let Goldman leave the series yet, although it was mentioned in ‘The Raid’ (penultimate episode) that Goldman was short and only had one month left. It is however never mentioned if he will leave the army or chooses for a further career in it. Ofcourse I hoped for a sequel with Goldman in it.
PS. I’m a fan since 1990 (when Tour of Duty was first broadcasted in The Netherlands), but only discovered this messageboard this week…
