Quotation marks might be used to recognize that what one of us means by ‘royals’ may not be what others mean. There are people who do not recognize members of parvenu dynasties like Zog’s flash-in-the-pan crowned dictatorship as royals. And there are others who don’t consider to be ‘royals’ the legions of remote princely descendants born as citizens of republics. On the other hand, some think of the children of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Princess Anne of GB as royals. So perhaps there is a certain logic to selectivcely using the term with quotation marks.
