According to the biography THE WARRIOR QUEEN, the famous power couple of Spain are ancestors to nine of the ten reigning monarchs of Europe today. The author omitted Liechtenstein, however. Does anybody know why? I would imagine that Prince Hans Adam II would be descended from them, given his Habsburg ancestry ...
Carelessness, perhaps. Hans Adam II has hundreds of lines of descent from Ferdinand and Isabella; he descends from them in the fourteenth through nineteenth generations.
I don’t know about all the other royals but some time ago I figured out that the nearest common ancestors of all European royalty (at least those reigning in the 19th and 20th centuries) were Albert III, Elector of Brandenburg and Sophia Jagiellon, Princess of Poland. Except for Montenegro, whose heads have no genealogical connections to the rest of European royalty.
