He was part of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg RF, a branch of the Oldenburg family, of german origins.
All of his mother's grand-parents were germans (including Alice of UK, daughter of Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha).
All of his sisters married german princes.
Of everything you wrote, what I put in bold is the only thing that matters. German ancestry itself has never been the real issue, it was the association with the enemy in times of war (and the fact that some of Philip’s brothers-in-law were Nazis). That’s it.
