I am however surprised at the Same-Coburg-Gotha surname as to the best of my knowledge that name was altered to of Belgium in 1891 so i believe that either the court or the reporters have made a mistake.
I don't think Albert II would do things the same way had he lived through that episode of his life in this day and age. I also think that if any of the 5 pregnancies of Queen Fabiola had resulted in a healthy child things would have gone this way.
Albert was his brother's heir and acted accordingly even if his heart may have wanted a different life.
Yes Delphine is the victim of two parents who did not honour their marriage vows or used their intelligence to prevent their extra marital affair resulting in a pregnancy. She is not the victim of a cruel father as her biological father never was her father until she forced him through the courts to acknowledge her as his child.
She was not very respectful towards her legal and biological parents and considering that her biological father was the King of the Belgians she could have acted otherwise. So she herself seems to have inherited a selfish gene from both her parents.
Of course she will never be part of the inner family circle. I very much doubt one exist as the relationships between Albert and his sons seems to be strained to say the least. Of course these half siblings are not going to welcome this reminder of a very difficult time in their youth and in the process hurt their mother.
As for the titles and styles as i wrote above i would not be surprised if they turned out to be short lived.
They didnt follow the spirit of the decrees, thats for sure.
Vindictive? Perhaps. Nasty? No. The nasty person is the king emeritus, the man who obviously (albeit privately) recognized Delphine and then so cruelly cut her off. This is all his fault and if anyone is to be ashamed it is him. He will soon go to his grave as one of the loftiest ranking deadbeat dads in history.
