Re: DaNang RVN"
I think we were in Danang Harbor twice. I think we went in before we went out on the line the first time and we went in again when the helicoptor broke down on our flight deck. I don't remember tying up to a pier. I was on the aft line handling detail and I don't remember tying up. We were anchored out to a bouy, and if I remember we were close to the hospital ship the USS Sanctuary and the USS Repose. I remember that we were transmitting the sonar to keep swimmers from the ship until the hospital ships said that the noise from the sonor was annoying to the wounded on board. One of the nights that we were there some of the destroyers were shelling the north shore of the harbor. We were told that the VC were trying to sink a ship in the harbor.
