The other parts of the complex do remain available for the Royal Family so they might become the home(s) for one or more of Christian's younger siblings.

I am sure most people living in Sorgenfri (Lyngby/Tårbæk) would not say they live in Copenhagen
And as you might know King Frederik and Queen Ingrid used Fredensborg as their second home in Sealand (Sjælland). So did Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik.
There as actually only about 15 kilometers between Fredensborg and Sorgenfri. So I fully understand they choose one of the two. It would perhaps be a bit much with both living in Amalienborg, Fredensborg, Sorgenfri, Graasten and Marselisborg for the royal family
