Another development is that the government proposes that the state take over the main building of Sorgenfri Castle which, at present, is at the disposal of the sovereign.
Having been unoccupied for nearly 30 years, Sorgenfri is now almost forgotten, but the picture was different in the first half of the 20th century, where King Christian X often resided there.
It was his favourite palace, where he and Queen Alexandrine had established their first home together and where their two sons were born.
Throughout their lives, they loved to spend much of the year at Sorgenfri and gathered the whole family there on special occasions.
