I think the planners did all they could do under the circumstances and rescind the invitation since other guests had to limit their entourage. This was a state occasion and, therefore, it was appropriate for the heir to attend. This was not a routine, "Plus-One" decision. The Danish court handled the whole thing in a dignified way.
