Well there is a limit to how many guests can fit into the Abbey so is fair enough Danish representation is limited to two. If Mary was desperate to go she could have taken the place of her husband.

I doubt the other RFs would be so small-minded. Margarethe is a widow, her son is married. I think others would have understood well enough why Mary was there with Frederik. The problem with adherence to rigid protocol is that some bureaucrats think like robots, not as humans.
