Re: Early years of Prince Alexander of Denmark / Olav V of Norway
Carl, Maud and Alexander did live in Denmark. They had an apartment in one of the four palaces that make up the Amalienborg complex. They also spent time at Appleton House on the Sandringham estate in the UK. A present from Edward VII to his daughter and son-in-law.
I am interested in the time that King Olav V was Prince Alexander of Denmark. In those first 2 years and 4 months, before moving to Norway, did he spend much time at the Court of his great grandfather in Denmark? Did his parents (then Prince and Princess Carl of Denmark) take part in any official duties in Denmark? Did they have an official residence there? I know Princess Carl / Queen Maud did not care for Denmark and preferred Sandringham in Norfolk but did she take little Alexander to Denmark at all after his birth in England?
