Agree that choosing something different can be a tough one. I thought the EU voting method we had was much fairer, albeit a tad complex for easy understanding.
Good point about us being a union also. I quite like the idea of a UK parliament where English MPs vote on English issues (it only seems fair) and that we have an elected second chamber similar to the US Senate to ensure some regional balance across the union and I include the regions within England in that.
I think we could do with a constitutional overhaul, ideally cross party. Church and state should be formerly separated IMVHO. And I would extend that to schools. If parents want them their children to be educated religiously, then take them to the local church, mosque, synagogue, temple,etc.
