Back in the sixties/seventies my grandad had a Boddies pub in Bredbury. I spent lots of time up there staying with them (on holiday from Portwood).

At the time when lager came in he used to call it onion water and refused to promote it.

At 9:45pm he'd get about twenty pints of Boddies bitter poured (3/4) and nearly ready, then the steelworks opposite shift finished at 10:00pm and it was chaos as the workers piled in to quench their thirsts.

Couldn't pull pints fast enough between then and last orders

For those of you who are Early Doors fans, yes, there were a couple of friendly cops that frequently called in for refreshments so last orders and drinking up time was flexible
