A few posts ago, past vague memories of Jim, and music in general, were discussed.
Since that time, another memories came to mind that are much less vague.
Back in the 60's, while in High School, computers were just coming into the fore and were still somewhat of a novelty.
I think I mentioned this in a post once before, but I listened at night, to a radio broadcast where "computers" were going to evaluate "the best of" on a number of subjects.
One was boxing, and at the time Muhammad Ali, formerly Cassius Clay, was very controversial. The computer narrowed the finalists down to Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano. Marciano won naturally because at the time he was undefeated and Ali had lost one bout. I think ulterior motives could also be applied to the decision.
The "Computer" also narrowed down the greatest Male Country singers to Eddy Arnold and Jim Reeves. I was all a dither because some of my high school friends preferred to Arnold to Reeves.
The final decision was announced and Reeves won. I was thrilled.
I note today that Eddy Arnold, does not seem to have the following, or interest, that Jim Reeves has on the internet or elsewhere.
Although I like many of Arnolds songs, it appears the computer decision back in the 60's was the right one.

Does anyone remember the Super Bowl commercial featuring a Jim Reeves song?
I remember it happening, but not the specific Super Bowl number, the commercial, or if Jim did the singing of the song.
Would be grateful if confirmation is possible.
Thanks, Bob

Don't know if this will help, but I did find a bit of information you asked about. After reading your post I researched the Super Bowl Website and found a very long list of Commercials (with synopsis) that were featured in every game starting in 1967 to present day.
In 1984 there was a commercial that started with a father and son walking on a beach with their Dog named Danny Boy. The only dialogue offered was when the boy asked his Dad..how long would his Dog live. Of course that was one of Jim's popular songs. However, no mention if this song was played during the ad or who sang it, or if it was featured at all. This struck me as very odd, since many commercials did use a backing track of a song featuring the original singer and quite a few were popular Country singers.
Hope this rings a bell for you Bob. That is all I could find after a grueling long read of a very long list which I was amazed even existed.

Your response has made my day. Sometimes I think trying to get Jim's music recognised is a futile endeavor.
I also worry that the posts here are not reaching a larger audience with which to effect change.
The fact that you were motivated enough to research this warms my heart. I'm not the only Jim reeves nut out there.
Research is good escapism.
I'm not clear on the commercial specifics, but I think is was Jim singing, and I think your time frame is about right or earlier.
I wish I had a sharper memory, but I do know the commercial existed.

I agree with you, Bob. Roy is a very dedicated Jim Reeves fan, just as you I and Gary are. Unfortunately, it just seems to be the four of us here lately. Roy and I are always trying to find something interesting about Jim that might spark an interesting conversation. Hopefully, more fans will join in soon, but for now, we have to do our part for Jim to keep his name alive...

A couple of Jim Reeves songs featured in a UK Drama a couple of years back. More recently 'Welcome to My World' partly featured in'Godzilla x Kong - The New Empire' This was a strange altered version. Of more interest is a New Youtube Video 'Jim Reeves Greatest Hits' which features TV apearances including the 1957 Steve Allen Tonight Show 'Four Walls'.

I haven't been able to locate the Steve Allen video just yet but will keep trying. Nice find in any event.
The Godzilla vs Kong use of "Welcome to My World" was kind of strange, but there is hope, my son found it a while back and let me know about it.
The whole family knows I'm a big fan although they don't want me to wear a couple Jim Reeves T Shirts I got from AliExpress recently, in public.
We'll see. We have a cruise coming up and I'm tempted to, especially at the Karaoke Lounge on the ship.
In any event, there was another use of "Welcome to My World" in the trailer to Season 5 of the American legal crime drama "Better Call Saul".
Everyone keep the faith!

I did a bit of homework on "Welcome To My World" and wanted to post what I found. Seems interesting and a bit more there than I expected to find.... Some of this will be in direct quote :
The classic "Welcome To My World" by Jim Reeves has appeared in several Films and TV Shows, and advertisements.
FILM: Godzilla X King: The New Empire (2024) used in the opening scene and trailer.
T.V. : Better Call Saul (Season 5, Episode 1) Mad Men (Season 4, Episode 11) and Night Sky (Prime Video Series)
ADVERTISEMENTS: Thompson's Holidays (UK 2008), Apple Arcade (2020) and Wickes (UK trailer 2020-2023).
While there isn't a single definitive number of all movies, its use in major Blockbusters and popular series highlights, it's enduring appeal certainly is evident across the media.
Just want to add a foot note here, and since I am Canadian, I want to add another song.
The Toronto camera company "Henry's Camera" featured a Jim Reeves song "Blue Sky" in their ads around 1990's and 2000s. As the company explained, "It evoked feelings of nostalgia, quality and capturing memories, fitting their brand perfectly." It was also mentioned by the company, that the Gentle Classic Sound of Reeves matched Henry's message of timeless photography and preserving moments.
Hope this helps and if anymore can be found please post it here. Thank you...Roy

Robert, I know I've seen the clip of Jim on "The Steve Allen Show". I think Jim sang "Four Walls" and Steve gave him a big introduction. I'm pretty sure that this clip is featured in "The Jim Reeves Anthology" DVD that Larry released. Roy, never knew that "Welcome To My World" was used that many times. I only knew about a few of them. And I never knew about "Blue Skies" used in the Camera commercial. The only other time I can add where a song by Jim was used was in the Richard Dreyfuss film "Let It Ride". There's a scene where Dreyfuss is sitting in a bar, and Jim's "He'll Have To Go" is heard playing on the jukebox. I know an Eddy Arnold song was also heard in this scene, although I can't recall which song it was. There could very well be other TV shows or movies that Jim was featured in that we're not aware of. Good to hear that "Welcome To My World" was used quite a few times, but it would be nice to hear of other Jim songs being used as well. Jim recorded so many great songs, and there's no need to be using the same song over and other again, even though it's a wonderful recording. So Refreshing to hear that "Blue Dkies" was used in the camera commercial.

Your posting inspired me. Googled Jim Reeves in TV Series and Movies.
Surprising amount of responses, like you said.
Some as follows, less the season, episode number and the song.
Fargo, Mad Men, Call the Midwife, Euphoria (pilot), The Devil All the Time, F is for Family, White Lines, and Small Axe for TV listings.
Then there is the Godzilla vs Kong movie.
I honestly have little or no knowledge of some of these shows, although I did research Small Axe by Steve Mcqueen some time ago. Would not do it again.
