The one thing that most people would do initially, was replace the bedroom mattress. Because of all the big ticket things we were doing, I held off. The existing mattress was like new so I contented myself with a new mattress covering, although it was not a comfortable bed. It's shortcomings were becoming more evident each day. It felt like sleeping on the floor. The previous owner had put on a foam topper but it did little to help and its fit was not perfect, leaving an uneven surface on the edge of the bed. Today, a new mattress was delivered.
Getting up this morning, it was stripping the bed and washing the bedding, including the mattress over we had purchased. We had purchased another mattress cover along with the bed, a Cadillac version guaranteed to protect the mattress for ten years (I should live so long). Part of the "deal" was a free adjustable type base platform. It was the basic version but we don't watch TV or read in the bedroom so having the headrest come up is a nice perk should that ever change.
I'm not one for spending time sleeping but I'm looking forward to seeing how much of a difference the new mattress makes.
