A handful of neighbors came over to give their condolences. I think I already mentioned our friend across the road brought over a large pot of chili. We really appreciated it.
I think what made this so much worse for everyone was we had no time to prepare ourselves for him dying. Until that day he had trouble breathing there were no symptoms. We had no warning. No reason to think he was so close to dying. Perhaps it would have been different if we could have visited him in the hosp - oh well, it's too late now.
The only positive thing that could be said about it was he didn't suffer for long.
