If you are referring to how that person (Pss. Beatrice) is now calling herself online in that website link Nellie provided above, being "BEATRICE YORK" - then that's only her business/commercial exploitation of that name "York" at this point. She's lost it as far as a titular identity...although her buddy Meghan Markle likewise insists she is "Meghan Sussex" even though she's an American citizen back on American soil. Another case of cynical exploitation.

"If they needed a surname"? Most people do legally speaking in a republic...be it Italy or Portugal or others I can think of. Also, some are saying they don't use the married name (see below: Charles) so what do they rely on for documents issued in those countries?
I don't think it matters in any way to us what name or names they use privately or in business.
