Re: The Prince and Princess of Wales
More eye rolling from me this morning ...the Evening Standard refers to her as Kate, Princess of Wales ( I hadn't realised she had recently divorced or become a widow!) and then in the same article as ...Princess Kate !! Yesterday I saw a heading about the Duke and Duchess of York !
I think it was very wise of King Charles to create William Prince of Wales so quickly. It is being reported in very positive terms, and provides a clear storyline that the new King is taking charge and that the Royal Family is united and moving forward.
And I too hope that the "Kate Middleton" business will be over with, and that we will be reading about the Princess of Wales from now on.
I have to say it really surprised me to hear he created William Prince of Wales so quickly but I am actually pleased.
Now I'm curious to see what the Press will call the Princess of Wales? I won't be surprised if they incorrectly call her Princess Catherine....oh well, that would be preferable over Kate Middleton.
That was quick! When Edward VII became King, it took almost a year before his son George (later George V) was created Prince of Wales. When George V became King, it took a month and a half before his son Edward, known within the family as David (later Edward VIII, and then the Duke of Windsor) received the title, and in Charles’s case, he had been the heir apparent for six years before he was created Prince of Wales.
