I got comments from all UIL judges saying articulation from my band sounds muddy, fuzzy, unclear, etc. Similar comments regarding style which I assume is related. I'm working on improving my pedagogy in this regard but need some tips from seasoned veterans.

Most of my teaching is done in the full band setting (sectionals on occasion but some logistics out of my control prevent those from happening consistently).

What are your go-to phrases that get all instruments to articulate how you want them to? Any specific articulation exercise I should be doing in daily drill every day?
