Both January and February have been cold, this year. Much colder than last year, even though my coldest low of -3F (a z6B minimum), matched last year's coldest low.
This year's cold has had much longer duration. Last year's cold snaps maxed-out, at 5 days, each. Snow has been on the ground, since last month, although nearly gone, now.
Well, this year's veggie starts are underway. The pic below, shows some tomato and collard seedlings. Since the collards grow faster, they will be ready to go into the ground, by mid-late April, after one transplant to 6-packs, between now and then. This elephant ear relative, often found on funeral home parlor plant stands, is called a PEACE LILY, Spathiphyllum spp.. It has decided to bloom now, but flowers off and on, all year'round. Since this specimen has large leaves, and flowers, it is 'Mauna Loa' cultivar...

- NEW PLANT -
Below is the pic of a new plant I got, for spring planting. It is a BLE (broad-leaved evergreen), and the females produce berries, that ripen to red. This one is a male, though. Any guess, as to what this plant is?
